Customer comments about Mackintosh King High Footboard Bed:
This is my second king size Macintosh bed, having parted with the first one in my divorce. I really missed it and promised myself I'd replace it as soon as my life/finances got back on track. It is just as I had remembered it;-)
I'm very happy to have another one.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen High Footboard Bed:
I've had this bed over 10 years. It looks as good today as the day it was delivered - and it's traveled with me cross-country! The design is a great marriage of arts and crafts style and contemporary materials. It is solid and sturdy without appearing bulky.
I added 3/4 inch plywood over the slats to provide solid support to my mattress.
If there was one thing I would change about the bed, it would be, well, nothing!!!

Customer comments about Mackintosh King High Footboard Bed:
This is a great bed! It is incredibly sturdy and well-made. It is very simple to assemble. I initially got this bed because I was living in an apartment with little storage space and the height of the bed allowed me to store things under it. Now, even though I do not need the storage space, it is nice to be able to vacuum under the bed. My only complaint is that the foot board is right at hip height, so if you are not careful, you can run right into it. I ordered a mattress that is a little oversized and it fits the bed perfectly. I am purchasing another bed from R&B (steel another design) for the guest bedroom.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen High Footboard Bed:
hard to find anything new to say about a basic design like this, but Mackintosh manages to get a few words in. Clean design, 'indestructible', a classic look with a modern spin. Will be a part of my household forever.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen High Footboard Bed:
At traditional furniture stores, I was unable to find a bed frame that doesn't creak, wobble, or bend. This bed is rock solid and addresses all of those issues. The style could work with traditional and with moder decor. The welds do show, so if traditional, it would be "traditional with a edge".
Because of the footboard and no box spring, there is a bit of coverlet bunching at the foot of the bed but the visual space created by not having a box spring is well worth this slight downside.
I purchased the 2-piece wooden platform and I am glad I did so. I think (not sure) modern mattresses really require a flat support area (as opposed to slats) and it makes the bed easier to make.
My old wobbly bed is in the spare room and now pales by comparison.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was polite and on schedule, but the initial delivery had damaged headboard and one rail. Room and Board sent out replacements and refunded the delivery fee when I mentioned the inconvenience.

Great bed with classic look and substantial construction. Can be hard (pinching) to make and fit the sheets but the platform helps tremendously.

Customer comments about Mackintosh California King High Footboard Bed:
I love this bed. Even though they didn't have it in the showroom, I ordered it anyway because: 1)beautiful design, 2) simplicity, 3) price, 4) loved the idea of a classic, simple design being updated with black steel. Was a little hesitant because: 1) wasn't sure how solid it would be because of the height and spindly design, 2) hadn't seen it "in person" and, you know, you never know, 3) although the other items in the showroom were "quality", I wasn't sure how that would translate to this particular bed, since it was so reasonably priced. Well my worries were unfounded. It is VERY heavy and solid (does not sway or squeak); was easy to assemble [...], partly because of the simplicity of the design, partly because the design is well thought out. The only thing I did not expect was how visible the welds are--which are necessary because of the material and design. But this only made me like it more because of the "industrial" touch, but it may not be for everyone.
Service and delivery comments:
Outstanding service. Very reasonable delivery fee. Customer service was very helpful and informative. The bed was delivered on time on the promised day, even though it came all the way from Minneapolis, MN to Carmel, CA. I was in a very difficult to reach location, so the truck driver actually left his trailer on another street, strapped my bed to the back of his cab, and then delivered it on time. I would give 5 stars just on the customer service and delivery, but the bed gets 5 stars too!

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen High Footboard Bed:
The sales person said it may be hard to make the bed (i.e., tuck in sheets) due to the lip around the frame that holds the mattress, but we haven't had any challenges. We didn't purchase the mattress board (to hold sheets in and keep neat) and don't have any complaints.
Service and delivery comments:
L-O-V-E R&B delivery. The short window (just 2 hours) doesn't eat up my day and the pre-call when the delivery is on the way is helpful in planning. Very friendly and respectful.
