Our medical, dental and vision coverage is comprehensive, aimed at keeping staff members and their families healthy. All require premium contributions from staff members, so everyone shares responsibility for maintaining good health.
We are proud to offer domestic partnership coverage when our insurance providers offer such coverage.
We recognize that vacation time is fundamental to good health. Therefore, we offer a generous vacation schedule that gives staff members three weeks of paid vacation per year during the first five years of employment and four weeks per year thereafter.
We encourage active participation in our 401(k) retirement savings plan. Staff members can save pretax income and Room & Board provides a discretionary match each year up to 50% of the first 8% that a staff member defers. To reward longevity with the company, this match becomes vested after three years of employment with Room & Board.
Further, to support our staff members holistic well-being, they are offered the services of a Certified Financial Planner who provides a range of services from debt counseling and basic budgeting/saving advice to college savings plans, retirement plans, and complicated financial needs. There is no cost to staff members who utilize this benefit.
Our staff members share a great excitement for our products. To encourage this enthusiasm, Room & Board offers a 35% discount off the purchase price of both accessories and furniture and a 50% discount off the purchase price of mattresses.
We recognize that our staff members choose to build their families in many different ways. To support our staff members during an exciting time we offer three types of paid leave starting the first of the month following your hire date.
- Birth mothers with physician certification receive 6 weeks of paid leave through Short-term Salary Continuance.
- Primary care givers of an adopted child receive six weeks paid leave.
- New Parents, not in the role of primary care giver, receive one week of paid leave.
Our fitness center, located on the Central Office campus, is staffed by a professional trainer and is available to campus staff members and their spouses/partners. All other staff members that do not work on the Central Campus receive up to a $300 annual payment to defer the cost of membership to a similar fitness facility of their choice.
This personal counseling service offers free, confidential resources for advice regarding emotional, family/personal, work or risk-related issues, legal and financial matters, child/elder care services as well as community referrals that provide for a variety of life situations.
Flexible Spending Accounts - Room & Board offers four pre-tax flexible accounts: 1) health care reimbursement 2) dependent care reimbursement 3) parking expenses and 4) mass transit expense.
Company Paid Life Insurance - Staff members are provided with a benefit of 2 1/2 times their annual salary, to a maximum of $150,000, plus the ability to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for oneself, spouse/domestic partner and children.
Computer Purchase Program - Staff members can take advantage of our negotiated discount through our technology vendor to purchase a computer system.
