A blog on modern living

Are you the type of person who likes to rearrange their living room on the regular? Always itching to move to another place? I’m raising my hand, too. If you’ve ruled out sectionals because they just seemed too permanent for your personality, we have a design idea for you: a modular sectional.

What is a modular sectional?

A modular sectional is designed to be reconfigured, rearranged and moved around. The individual pieces of a modular sectional have backs and arms that are the same height and ottomans that are as tall as the seats, which allow them to be shuffled around and still fit together perfectly.

Case in point: Linger modular sectional

Here’s a great example of the flexibility of a modular sectional. With the same six pieces, you can create these four different room layouts, and more. The pieces shown are from our Linger modular collection: two corners, two armless chairs and two ottomans, a.k.a. our Linger six-piece modular u-shaped sectional.

Here the Linger modular sectional is configured into a modern layout with ottomans as part of the seating.

Now we’ve pulled out the two armless chairs and made a smaller sectional. A perfect layout for entertaining, cocktails and conversation.

Another cozy idea: create a huge sofa with two ottomans in front instead of a coffee table.

Move the ottomans to create two chaises and still have space for a coffee table. Hello, movie night.

All the different layout options are great, but modular sectionals have two more big advantages: First, endless size options. Just keep adding pieces for big rooms, or subtract for small rooms. Second, no worries about fitting pieces through your doorways, stairways, elevators, etc. Because each individual piece is the size of a chair, they’ll almost always fit.

  1. I like that you said that one of the benefits of choosing a modular sectional for your home is that you could create many room layouts with just the same furniture pieces. My husband and I are having our home remodeled this year. We want to get new furniture for our home, so I’ll suggest we buy a sectional sofa to him tonight. Thanks!

  2. This article is really helpful especially to those who loves arranging their living room. Thank you for the tips.
