A small space is no reason to fear the L-shaped sectional! Design Associate Cindy Peterson shares her tips for choosing a small space sectional when you’re trying to make the most of tight square footage. The good news is you don’t have to give up style for function or comfort—we pack all three into each and every small space sectional.
Color can be key
“Sectionals with a thin or low arm offer a nice, sleek profile. Choosing a lighter colored fabric will also give your space an open feel.”
Round out the room
“A small scale floor lamp next to a sectional provides direct, focused light if you don’t have room for an end table with a table lamp. And round coffee tables are great for L-shaped sectionals because you can easily move around them.”
Add a console behind the sectional
“I love a good console (or desk!) behind a sectional or sofa, especially if you don’t have room to place a table to the left or right. Not only does it help divide up and define the room, but its length lets you easily reach your beverage or books.”
Consider the leg style
“A sofa or sectional that’s up on legs will keep your space feeling light and airy.” Not to mention, it makes cleaning a heck of a lot easier.
Maximize your seating
“In small spaces, I think it’s okay to skip the accent chair. If you don’t have room for a sofa and an accent chair, a sectional is a great solution. You get the same amount of seating (or more!) out of one piece of furniture.”
