Washington, D.C.'s first micro-hotel created a buzzworthy rooftop lounge using Room & Board's durable modern outdoor furniture.
Hotel Hive offers efficient, small rooms at a great value, encouraging guests to "buzz more and spend less." Their innovative approach to hospitality emphasizes public gathering spaces within the hotel as an important part of each guest's experience. "We anticipated the Hive rooftop would be a favorite destination and we wanted to make sure we got it right," shares Mai Abdo, Chief Creative Director of Abdo Development and Hotel Hive.
“We had great support from the team at Room & Board. They were very informed and provided excellent guidance and service every step of the way.”

The rooftop is a triangular shape with seating alcoves and views of the Lincoln Memorial. Not only did the rooftop outdoor furniture need to work with the unique shape of the space, it also had to match the historic-meets-modern look of the hotel, be comfortable for guests and able to withstand heavy use.
Mai visited Room & Board Washington, D.C. where Design Associates helped her quickly identify pieces to meet the hotel's requirements. The Business Interiors team stepped in to draft a floor plan, then managed order details and delivery logistics to meet the installation deadline. Mai says, "We had great support from the team at Room & Board. They were very informed and provided excellent guidance and service every step of the way."
Open since 2016, Hotel Hive's rooftop is the guest-focused destination Mai envisioned and the outdoor furniture is keeping up with the demands of this popular space. "I appreciate good design, quality craftsmanship and professional customer service. Room & Board delivered on all."
