Joanne Freeman
New York-based artist Joanne Freeman creates dynamic works that combine human gesture with geometry. This series was originally painted using sign makers’ tape to mask areas off before applying the next layer of oil, achieving a sense of order and whimsy. Available exclusively at Room & Board, the silkscreens are signed by the artist then framed by hand in Ohio.
Painter Joanne Freeman juxtaposes randomness and order to create her lively collections. Freeman works on multiple pieces at a time, letting the movement or color from one piece inspire the others in progress. She compares her abstract art with the music she listened to in her childhood: innocent yet energetic.
