The talented artisans in the small Cameroonian villages of Chams and Fubam create these round shields for decoration, taking inspiration from their specific tribe’s shields used in battle or ceremonial dance. These artisans wish to share their African culture with the world, and they sell their work to galleries and individuals around the globe. Carved from solid wood native to the area, each one-of-a-kind shield features a grooved geometric pattern on the front representative of the individual’s tribe plus a handle carved on the back.
