Committed to
Modern Living

For more than 35 years, we have created modern furnishings designed to be practical, timeless and comfortable. To us, modern isn't a trend to be chased; it's a way of living.

Timeless Design

We design our furniture in-house taking inspiration from the enduring design movements of the past, particularly Shaker, Asian, Danish, Arts & Crafts and Modern. These eras share principles we consider fundamental to good design, like honoring natural materials, working with simple, organic forms and making the functional beautiful. Our designs are rooted in this heritage, but reinterpreted for life today.

Learn about modern style and how to bring the timeless look into your home.

How to define modern style
“Don’t make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful.”
— Shaker rule of thumb

American Craftsmanship

More than 90% of our products are manufactured in America using quality U.S. and imported materials. Working with family-owned companies around the country allows us to bring you the best craftsmanship and fastest delivery with the least environmental impact. It also means you get furniture with a story you'll be proud to share.

John Gabbert, founder of Room & Board, talks about American manufacturing.

We partner with artisans and workshops across the country.

“What it comes down to is pride in what we do, every single day. It starts with us and if we love it, it trickles down to everyone we work with.”

Sustainable Sourcing

Natural materials are an integral part of our designs, and our respect for these materials leads us to source them responsibly. As a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, we are committed to transparency and improvement in everything we do, from material sourcing and manufacturing to supporting local communities.

about every
tree that is cut
down and the power and privilege we
have to extend its life and to display its beauty in the furniture we make.”
