Nestled in New York City’s Lower East Side, The Rollins is a new residential building that’s a community destination with its public plaza and playground. Residents enjoy a prime location in the heart of the new Essex Crossing development, plus amenities like a kids’ playroom, dog wash station and rooftop lounge complete with Room & Board outdoor furniture.
Designing for community spaces at The Rollins
K&Co designed the community gathering spaces within the building, including the rooftop. “We wanted to give this outdoor space the same modern but timeless and comfortable vibe we created in the building’s lobby and indoor amenities. The terrace furniture also needed to be functional and durable as we expected residents at The Rollins to get as much use out of it as our NYC weather would permit,” shares designer Kaleigh Atkins.
Montego for comfort + durability
Our Montego outdoor furniture fit the bill for the design plan. “Our team loved the Montego collection, which met all of our criteria with its dark metal framing in clean, simple shapes and soft canvas cushions,” explains Kaleigh.
Penelope for texture + balance
“To contrast the Montego pieces, we mixed in lounge and dining chairs from the Penelope collection which add new visual lightness and texture.” The Montego and Penelope pieces were also all in stock and ready for delivery, keeping the project’s timing on track.
Easy + enjoyable service
K&Co worked with Design Associate Maurice Hamilton in our New York City store, who closely managed the delivery details to ensure a seamless installation day. “He made our experience easy and enjoyable from selection through delivery.”
