A blog on modern living

We recently teamed up with California-based blogger and interior designer Audrey Crisp to help create a shared bedroom for her boys. Read on to learn what inspires Audrey and her advice for designing a space for two.

Who or what inspired your interest in interior design?

My mom loved interior design, so growing up I became interested in it as well. We used to love to go to The Parade of Homes together. We still love going when I come to visit my family in Utah!

What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing all the beautiful designs people create and I love supporting other designers. It’s great to have a platform for others to discover small Instagram accounts. I do e-design every so often and I love being able to help people find new furniture and decor.

Do you have any recommendations for creating a shared space for kids?

My recommendation for a shared space is to keep it cohesive and fun! If your kids don’t like the same things, you could do two different themes that are cohesive for each child. I love having two drawers on my Ashby nightstand, so each child has a drawer to keep their special items/toys in. If you have a small space, bunk beds work well!

What’s your favorite spot in your home?

My favorite spot in my home is our living room and kitchen area! It’s an open space, totally my style and we spend a lot of time in there! I also really love my boys’ room since it’s been refreshed! (See the full reveal on Audrey’s blog).

Describe your perfect Saturday.

My perfect Saturday involves sleeping in, getting donuts and spending the day with my husband and two boys!

Where do you go for inspiration?

I find and share so much inspiration on my Instagram page! I also find inspo on Pinterest.

How would you describe your design style?

My design style is modern, but with touches of global and boho!

Do you have a favorite type of room you like to design?

My favorite is living room design. Bedrooms are a close second!

If you could help design a space for anyone, who would it be and why?

That is a tough question! I actually would love to help my mom with her home! She’s so busy and always puts others first so her home gets put on the back burner. She has great taste though, so we would work well together!

How do you relax and unwind at home?

My favorite way to relax and unwind is watching TV.
