LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated annually in June. It honors the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a tipping point for the gay rights movement. We take this time to support our LGBTQ+ peers and customers. We also acknowledge that there is more to do.
“Room & Board stands firmly with the LGBTQ+ community and condemns the recent challenges to the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, families and children happening nationwide. All LGBTQ+ people, including transgender people, are entitled to the same freedom and safety as others in our country are guaranteed,” says Nancy Greatrix, Room & Board’s Chief People Officer.

Equity and inclusion
Room & Board has provided domestic partner benefits for more than 20 years. Like many things in our company’s history, our policies followed our people. And it is simply the right thing to do.

In 2012, we publicly opposed the Minnesota marriage amendment to ban same-sex marriage. We supported the repeal of the HB2 “Bathroom” law in North Carolina in 2017. And through our Community Partnership program, we volunteer with social service agencies focused LGBTQ+ issues.
“We are proud to have a long history of supporting, celebrating, and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community,” notes Nancy. “Clearly, there is still much work to be done. We will continue giving to nonprofit organizations fighting for LGBTQ+ equality and working to ensure every Room & Board location is an inclusive and equitable environment for all.”
