A blog on modern living

Bryan Trevathan has been a Room & Board customer since 1997, shopping at our Edina, MN store to furnish his first home in Minneapolis. When a new job opportunity lured him to Atlanta in 2008, he brought his favorite Room & Board pieces with him on the cross-country move.

1010 Midtown exterior in Atlanta

The exterior of the 1010 Midtown condo building in Atlanta.

Bryan’s furniture blended seamlessly into his new condo at 1010 Midtown, a building he chose for its modern look, amenities and proximity to restaurants, nightlife and parks. “I love Midtown. It feels like being in a neighborhood in the middle of the city.”

The one bedroom, one bathroom unit has large windows and an open floor plan. Even though he moved to a smaller home with modern architecture, his tastes didn’t waver. “My style is classic contemporary,” he says. “I like modern, clean lines.”

Living room with Bram sofa and Callan chair

Bryan’s living room is grounded by the grey leather and walnut of the Bram sofa and Callan chair, with strategic pops of color to highlight the artwork.

When our Atlanta showroom opened in 2009, Bryan was happy to have a store nearby again, saying “Room & Board has really stayed with me as a brand. Everything is well made with good materials, and I know it will last a long time. And I like that the furniture is made in the U.S.”

Bedroom with Copenhagen bed and Delano nightstand

The bedroom is light and bright thanks to a maple Copenhagen bed, Delano nightstand and white bedding that allows the artwork to be the focal point.

Over the years Bryan, and how his partner, have added to their collection of Room & Board furniture, purchasing a grey leather Callan chair and Bram sofa, plus Collins counter stools for the kitchen island (shown at top). There’s one piece that’s still his favorite though. “I love our Adams cabinet in walnut. We’re working on updates to our living room, and this piece is moving to our office where we’re putting it with our new Basis desk.”

The Adam’s cabinet in walnut is a flexible storage piece that Bryan has used in different ways throughout his condo.

Bryan and his partner are planning to buy a bigger place soon, and they’re already daydreaming about how they’ll decorate it. But they’re not wondering where they’ll shop. “We don’t have to run around to other stores—we know that your things will fit our house and our budget. We always find what we need at Room & Board.”
