Percale should have a crunch to it. This Somerville Percale fabric drapes heavy and clingy. I recommend the Signature Percale series which has more structure and so it feels lighter on the skin. Overall a more luxurious feel. Furthermore it is cheaper. I get this Somerville fabric is technically a percale weave but it is 25% heavier than the Signature fabric (5lb vs 4lb) with half the weave density (140 v 300 tc). Is just physics.. there is no way this combination will have the hold or crispiness of the Signature fabric.

I read several reviews that mentioned loose threads and concerns about overall product quality. This duvet cover and the sheets I also ordered were very expensive and I expected very high quality. I followed all care instructions and three buttons still came off of the duvet cover when I washed and dried it. I was expecting houseguests so had to go ahead and use it. I will need to hand sew the buttons back onto the cover when I find the time.

Buttons in the end are very easy to use and the actual duvet first perfect with the cover. It's feels really cozy and good quality. I have washed it 4 times already and looks like new still.

We recently had a three-night stay in NYC while the grandparents took care of the kids in our upstate home. At the end of our weekend, we thought, we MUST buy new sheets for our master bedroom. So before leaving NYC, we wandered into Room and Board and low and behold, bought the BEST sheet set ever. I ended up returning this to Room & Board & purchased another duvet cover from them that is much better quality. I washed this product one time (on cold, dried on low) & there were many loose strings along the button area where the fabric was fraying. I'm assuming it was like that even before I washed it but either way it definitely shouldn't look like that after only one washing. The fabric also felt thin to me - just kind of like a sheet - and not like very good quality given this price. I expected a heavier weight fabric. Overall the quality just did not seem on par with other Room & Board products!
