A popular way to arrange bedroom furniture is putting your bed facing the door (meaning the foot of the bed is towards the door) with nightstands on either side. Leaving about 18 inches of space on either side of the bed lets you and your partner move around it. Place your dresser on the other side of the room, and hang clothes in a closet. If you need more closet space, consider an armoire, which is a dresser that includes a clothes hanging bar. Keep in mind storage beds can add more storage space as they come with storage drawers incorporated into the foot of the bed, or drawers incorporated into the side of the bed.

In a small bedroom, choose smaller nightstands or allow for less walking space (12 inches on either side of the bed, though this can feel cramped. Alternatively, push the bed into a corner to allow for more space on one side. On an open side of the bed, a desk can double as a nightstand.Alternatively, get one larger nightstand that can double as a dresser and nightstand. Or, get wall-mounted nightstands to save floor space. Try to save more floor space by getting a dresser that takes advantage of vertical space, and keep in mind that a storage bed offers plenty of unused storage space with drawers that slide under the bed from the foot or side. Or, get a bed on legs with space underneath it that allows storage bins, and measure this opening in advance to make sure the bins you have (or plan to buy) will fit under the bed with room to spare.
