Alta

I ordered the Alta Wall Shelf in reclaimed wood to complete a guest room renovation before Thanksgiving. The timing mattered because the room was for my in-laws, and this shelf was the final piece. The first shelf arrived on schedule, but it showed up with a large chunk of wood missing straight out of the corner. I returned it and requested a replacement, assuming it was a rare mistake. Five days later, the replacement arrived — and unbelievably, it had almost the exact same type of damage. Another missing piece of wood, again right out of the box. Two shelves in a row, both broken, both unusable. For the price point and Room & Board's reputation, this was incredibly disappointing. The product looks great online, but the quality control and packaging clearly need serious improvement.

These are a solid item but there's a couple of quality control things that I didn't like. Firstly there was minimal grain/knots on one of the items and the other one was full of dark knots. I know it's a natural material and differences are expected but the difference was really stark. Also the heavily knotted one was missing a drill hole for the screw, maybe because it was right in the middle of a wood knot.

I like the functionality and look of the shelf. The wood is a bit warped so it doesn't sit very flat on the metal. Still works and overall a good buy. #sweepstakes

As with all Room & Board products we've bought the quality is very good

I bought two of these shelves. After a simple installation, they complement the warm white walls and dark walnut wood tones of my bedroom. I think they were a good choice for the somewhat small spaces beside my bed. Grateful for the holes in the back of the units for power cords. #sweepstakes
