Woodwind

The file cabinet looks attractive and works very well storing files. Wish we had space for another one.

I ordered this months ago, and it finally arrived - without the necessary bars for the file drawers. Six weeks later, a package arrived with only enough bars for one drawer. Still waiting for the bars for the other 3 drawers. I have had to call Room & Board every time to get an update. There is no follow-up by anyone. I used to love Room & Board, but this purchase may make me a Pottery Barn follower.

OK, so after months of searching, we found this pretty filing cabinet. It looked good, though the handles are a bit modern. We paid for the white-glove delivery. Which apparently just means delivery (under 5 minutes in house). When we opened the drawers to check functionality, we found 3 envelopes, each with plastic wall-tethering system that we did not see required in the online description, as well as the metal for setting up for hanging folders. When we opened the top drawer, indeed, the system tipped down. OK, so we called the company - there are no counterweights in this system - something we assumed all filing cabinets of this size would have. To have to rely on tethering to drywall - or buy some device to find studs and then place the cabinet accordingly (looking odd in the room possibly) seems absurd at this rather high price - let alone - there is scant little wood to screw into on cabinet - you could even split the wood. - Never mind, there are no pre-drilled holes for the screws. Apparently the delivery folks don't tether furniture. We found that if we added felt properly, we could prevent the unit from tilting. We are using the unit and though it takes a bit of a shove on the drawers to completely close them, we are on the whole now content.

I needed to condense my home office and needed adequate storage plus a place to put my printer on. This piece is absolutely perfect!

Exactly what I was expecting. Happy with our other home office furnishings (Woodwind bookcase and Parson desk) as well.

The filing cabinet it has tons of space, and looks great. The back is unfinished, which is only a problem if you don't place it against a wall (so you wouldn't want to float this in a space). If both drawers are open, the cabinet will tip over; I've found I open both drawers more often than anticipated (if I'm looking for something), so I've run into this a few times. Anti-tip hardware is included, so that is the solution, but I haven't installed it yet because I haven't decided the exact location for the cabinet (I'm waiting for another piece). Finally, the walnut finish is definitely cool, and not warm - more of a grey undertone.

The front of the file actually fell away from the rest of the piece when the box was taken off. It's actually impossible for me to evaluate the piece because it had to be returned on the same truck that brought it. I remain optimistic for I ordered a replacement.

I love this file cabinet. I purchased two and it brings such a great classy look to my office.

A perfect blend of beauty and functionality. Only negative is it lacks a lock which is less important for my situation.

As a creative director—simple design and solid construction are critical to my aesthetic. My home office required enough storage space for two, while creating a clean, minimalist environment for use as a conference space or dining room. We paired two woodwinds four drawer file cabinets with two custom 25" x17" woodwinds cabinets with doors, finished with a stone countertop (104" x 24" deep) to create a unique storage wall configuration which fits office files, supplies along with the ability to transform from office, to conference room, to dining room usage—quickly and easily. After a week or so we noticed the file drawers did not close flush consistently. when we contacted our sales consultant to find a solution, an appointment was quickly arranged for a technician to come out and adjust the rails and re-configure the drawers. the result is a perfectly functional design, the customer service was impeccable (a rare occurrence these days). The simple clean lines and solid construction will no doubt be enjoyed for years to come. We couldn't be happier.
