I had the Float adjustable desk by Humanscale previously from Room & Board, which was a total dud. The raise mechanism broke twice, every few years. Compared to that, the electronic mechanism on this SW desk seems much better and more reliable. Made in Japan by Okumura, with a 195lb weight capacity on top of the solid wood desk top. I don't have nearly that much on it so I'm hoping it will last many many years. The mechanism does not seem to bog down or struggle at all either when raising or lower the height, and it runs very quiet. The solid wood desktop is made and sourced in the USA by a Room & Board contract company and is of high quality and sustainable, which was important to me. I like that this desk can go as low as 26" and has high as 49". Great that my keyboard can sit on the desk and it goes low enough to still be ergonomic. I also like to handwrite and do some journaling, so being able to raise the desk super high to be able to stand while do that is great. I got this in the solid maple wood, which I really like. While must of my furniture in the room is walnut, the maple adds a bit more brightness to the look of the room while at the same time not giving such a 'matchy matchy' look. Maple is also a clean modern yet still warm look (it's what Apple uses for their tables in the Apple Store). It's also a harder wood so should not dent as easily.

I work from home and have needed an adjustable desk for some time because of back and shoulder issues I've been experiencing, but most of what I had been looking at was MDF and/or veneer. This desk was expensive, but Room & Board always has the best service, delivery and product quality. The gorgeous walnut top is not only beautiful to look at, but will age well….unlike cheap knock offs that will chip and splinter. The adjustable motor is smooth and quiet, it also has saved settings that use can program for sitting or standing….or for multiple people. I highly recommend.

I really like this desk. My husband has the 60 inch one and I got a 48 inch one in Walnut. It's beautiful. It's very well thought out piece of furniture. The switch is a little different on this newer one (improved). It has more range to move up and down too. It moves smoothly and silently. It even slows down below normal desk height presumably to avoid hitting your legs. It really classed up my office. I highly recommend it.

A beautiful desk that smoothly and quickly changes from seated height to standing. The range of heights is extraordinary, allowing me to try different heights with little effort.

I work from home and use this desk. I love to take video conferencing meetings while standing. Being able to adjust the table height regularly has been an ergonomic boon for me. I am able to adjust it inches up or down, depending on how I change my position and posture (or stand) throughout the day. This flexibility has allowed me to adjust my sitting and standing in a way that I don't get stiff or disjointed after working a desk job all week long. It is also stylish and looks nice in my space with a sleek finish that is easy to clean.

Great desk! Controls are easy to use and love the you can customize height. I chose white mdf top and wish I'd gone for a higher quality finish.

I was in the market for a standing desk for my home office. Room & Board isn't established as other brands when it comes to standing desks, but I decided to go with them because I really wanted one with a hardwood top as opposed to MDF with veneer like most other options. I've had the desk for 4 months now and I think the craftsman ship is remarkable! The walnut top has a beautiful shine. The desk feels rock solid while typing and writing on it, even with it supporting 3 computer monitors. The motor moves up and down smoothly and quietly while changing the height, and being able to configure presets makes it easy to switch back and forth between my normal standing and sitting height. There's also a decent amount of space for cables in the cable management tray underneath the desk. My only complain is that compared to some other brands like Uplift and Herman Miller there isn't nearly as many customization options in terms of cable management and grommets; however for my needs this desk has worked perfectly and I'm so glad I got it. #sweepstakes
