Quality wood furniture, but off-gasses when first delivered

Comments about Hudson Custom 44w 20d 50h Four-Insert Cabinet

I like the solid wood construction and the finish of the walnut is very nice. It appears to be a well constructed piece of furniture that I expect should last a while. My only complaint is that it off-gasses some strong smells (VOCs?) when first delivered, which are still evident several weeks after delivery. When first delivered, the off-gassing made our entire bedroom smell, and it was so bad we had to buy an air purifier for our bedroom. After several weeks, is has lessened, but when you open a drawer you still get a waft of unpleasant odor. I'[m not sure if this is the type of wood used, or the glue used, but it's bad. There also was a fine layer of wood dust covering all of the interior surfaces, including all of the drawers. We want to use this as a large dresser, but we had to do a thorough cleaning, and air it out for several weeks before we felt comfortable putting any clothes in the dresser. I have purchased Room and Board furniture several times in the past and this was the worst off-gassing I have ever experienced.

Comments about the Service

Delivery service was great. They were punctual and right on time. They kept our house clean using gloves and shoe covers. They were careful to plan their entry route for moving the furniture in, before bringing it in, and they removed all of the trash from the packing materials when they were done.

A beautiful piece that's also functional

Comments about Hudson Custom 44w 16d 28h Two-Insert Cabinet

We bought the Hudson (and a complementary Grove) to replace a large armoire that served as a liquor cabinet and linen storage. The style and construction of both is superb - elegant, sleek, but with a warmth that brings beauty to our room. The cherry wood and plain knobs go well with our other pieces. Also, Room and Board's customer service is unlike other companies'. Personal, detailed, and highly professional.

Comments about the Service

Delivery is great. We received calls in advance for when our delivery would be, and even our delivery people's names. Also a follow-up reminder. The two delivery men were thorough, careful, and knowledgeable in addition to calling us when they were near. They were also very friendly and we enjoyed them.

A nice anchor for our family room

Comments about Hudson Custom 65w 16d 28h Three-Insert Cabinet

We wanted a nicer, bigger cabinet to anchor our TV and this cabinet was perfect: It came in a variety of sizes which was important as the space we had was limited by a fireplace on one side and a wall on the other. At 65" it fit *perfectly* with about 3 cm to spare! The various components fit well and after we receive the extra shelf we ordered, the open shelves will look well balanced.

Comments about the Service

Delivery was smooth, flawless and done by friendly delivery people.

Love this modern "secretary" desk.

Comments about Hudson Custom 44w 24d 50h Four-Insert Cabinet

We chose cherry wood with black legs, double wide drop down door, filing drawer, and small drawer. We are so happy with this purchase. The 24" depth is great because of the extra storage. It's a beautiful piece that can close up and hide work. As someone mentioned, if you like to lean on your desk, this one probably isn't for you. It's sturdy, but constant heavy leaning on the dropdown door would likely damage it. Would buy again!

We purchased this custom cabinet for media storage. The cabinet perfectly fits the electronics and has room for a few added touches. The quality is phenomenal, exactly what I have come to expect with all Room and Board furniture. Love, love, love it!

Comments about Hudson Custom 65w 16d 50h Six-Insert Cabinet

We had a nonstandard room dimension that made it difficult to find wall to wall cabinets that fit, so we opted for Room and Board custom cabinets to achieve the right fit. Both cabinets are absolutely beautiful! The craftsmanship is excellent and we have no complaints. This was the Hudson line, and I highly recommend them.

Service and delivery was outstanding. Friendly folks and clear communication. The delivery crew came through despite a major snow storm that impacted our area. Our design assistant was also extremely helpful throughout.
