Keaton

We found a need to fill a space in our LR to display our books. After a search, we found that this bookcase for our needs perfectly. Various shelf configurations allow us to make all kinds of decisions about what goes best where. We are still working on that. The bottom cabinets add useful storage. Looks great.

I'm loving my purchase so far. The bookcase is well-made and manufactured and it's stunning to look at. It's super functional with the option to move around the shelves and has two cabinets with shelving in them. Perfection!

My husband and I were very surprised to learn that the slide-in shelving of our new, custom Keaton bookcases is made of cheap particle board, not MDF as we were expecting. (They're also not sized particularly well, with visible gaps on both sides when you slide them into place, but that was less of an issue in comparison.) We'd gone to the showroom before buying and talked to a sales associate about particle board, specifically, and been assured that while the bookcases are partly made of veneer over engineered wood, there was no particle board anywhere. Now looking in the Q&A section of the main Keaton website listing, one answer says the shelves are wood veneer over particle board, and another says wood veneer over MDF. If MDF is inaccurate, that answer should really be removed. You have to dig a bit into the product listing to find any mention of particle board, and frankly, it didn't even occur to me that a piece of Room&Board furniture at this price point would contain such cheap materials. My husband went back to the showroom and looked at the Keaton floor model with a sales associate, who seemed surprised by the whole issue, and she agreed the sample was not particle board. There was a clear difference between what was on display and what we had received. On closer inspection of our bookcases, we also saw that some of the metal supports holding up the shelves don't fit snugly into the pre-drilled holes, causing them to tilt down with any amount of weight. Seems like another wood-quality issue. The cases are very handsome and look nice in our living room, but we were expecting much higher quality from Room&Board. Buyer beware.

I got this for my home office and it is perfect. My printer is hiding in one of the bottom cabinets (fits perfectly) and the whole bookcase is incredibly beautiful and sturdy. I love it.

We recently moved to a new house that has a narrow living room with a challenging long wall and my spouse and I debated back and forth between doing built-ins and purchasing several Keaton wall units. What sold us on the Keaton series was actually the Media bookcase, which has a finished opening that fits up to a 65" TV. We couldn't find anything else like it on the market, and by ordering the 38" bookcase and the 45" bookcase to flank the Media bookcase, we were able to fill our problematic wall with functional display shelving, a TV, and closed storage. I ended up taking out several shelves to make room for some large display pieces—it was like putting together a puzzle—trying to figure out a balanced and symmetrical setup for the display shelves. And the closed storage allows me to keep the dog's toys within easy reach but out of sight. In all, a huge improvement for our most frequently used space. #sweepstakes

These are very well built bookcases. They are attractive and functional--it's really nice to have the bottom cabinets. For typical ceilings you can fill the room and have a little bit of space to set some art objects, etc. on top. Would definitely buy more if we had more room for bookcases. #sweepstakes

This is the 3rd Keaton shelf we have in our home and we'll probably be in the market for a fourth soon. Beautiful furniture.

This bookshelf looks amazing in my new office. Salt stain was the perfect color, the wood is high quality and easy to move the shelves around. I positioned them so each are different heights so it is a cool look. This is a class piece that will stand the test of time.
