Handsome Sofa - perfect for my Living Room
Comments about Macalester 100" Sofa
We got this sofa a couple months ago and it has worked out perfectly! We enjoy it and so do our 2 small dogs who actually don't scratch it even though they jump on the sofa a few times a day. We love the leather and rich color that matches our other walnut Room & Board furniture. Would recommend it because all our other pieces from here have lasted for years!
the 2 delivery personnel were awesome and placed it exactly where we wanted

We're very happy with our purchase.
Comments about Macalester 90" Sofa
This is our second Macalester sofa. We have the 80" version in fabric in the sitting area off our kitchen. After 5 years, it still looks great despite heavy use from humans and dogs, including coffee spills and wet paws. We love the Macalester's upright, supportive seating and the fact that you can lean against the high arms. We decided we needed the same comfort for our living room. The 90" leather version is very handsome. We chose a leather that is not recommended for pets and have covered the seat cushion with a velvet throw to minimize pet scratches. The sofa looks cosey and elegant at the same time. Of course, there will be scratching over time and we will be happy with a lived-in look.
The delivery experience was excellent. The sofa arrived on time and the delivery team stayed until we were happy with the sofa's placement in the room.

The cushion gets wrinkly. I expected that based on reviews.

The Macalester 100 inch sofa is exactly what we were looking for. The leather is beautiful, the color is perfect and really goes well with any decor. It is timeless. With all that being said it is very comfortable. We highly recommend.
The delivery was about as smooth as could be. Two great guys brought it up the stairs, placed it right where we wanted it and were done!

A splurge well worth it!
Comments about Macalester 100" Sofa
I am in love with this couch. It is the perfect piece to our newly finished basement. It will patina and age perfectly over time which I am looking forward to. It was expensive, but I feel it was totally worth it. If you take good care of your furniture pieces from Room and Board they should last a very long time. I love shopping at Room and Board because the service is excellent, most of their pieces are made in the USA and the delivery fee is one of the best priced around.
The Delivery teams are always top notch. This time they had a bit of a challenge and had to bring it through a basement window. They never got frustrated, were extremely patient and professional. Extra shout out to Joel and Kevin for your excellent service I so appreciate it! You guys rock.

Comments about Macalester 100" Sofa
We placed two of these sofas facing each other in the heart of our great room. We can easily seat six people facing one another or just the two of us can lounge, nap, read or watch tv. They are well made BUT they do scratch easily so we are calling that "character" and keeping quilts on top when our dogs decide to join us. The sofas are wonderful statement pieces and practical too!

We could not be there when they were delivered so our neighbors helped out. They arrived on time as promised and they took all the packaging away. Very clean and easy.

Great so far!
Comments about Macalester 80" Sofa
So far, so good. We were able to order this couch and get it delivered in under a month, and are really happy with both the design and level of comfort.
The 80" couch is great for fellow city-dwellers - long enough to totally stretch out and lounge, extremely comfortable, but with streamlined dimensions that don't overpower a space.
We hope that the leather and craftmanship will prove to be durable so that we can enjoy the Macalester for years to come.
The delivery team went above and beyond, delivering our couch in spotless condition despite a closed street necessitating that they carry it half a block AND pouring rain.

Heavenly couch, amazing service
Comments about Macalester 90" Sofa
We have been on a two-year search for the right couch after moving to a new city and a new home, and thanks to Room and Board the long saga finally came to a happy conclusion this month.
We absolutely love the sofa - it is super comfy and blends beautifully with our old-world tapestries and artifacts as well as our more modern furnishings. It's plenty long and deep enough for my 6'2" husband, so it will be fine for single overnight guests of any height. And I anticipate that the lack of back cushions and the single bench cushion will enable it to keep its shape well over the years.
A total win!!
I can't say enough about how superior Room & Board's service was, which we so appreciated after a nightmare experience with another high-end furniture company - whose products, by the way, cost significantly more on average.
After countless trips to many furniture stores up and down the East Coast for the past two years, we had finally decided on a custom-made sleeper sofa that could double as a centerpiece of our living room as well as a comfortable bed for occasional guests. We waited for months, & when it arrived the couch was 30% taller than advertised, incredibly uncomfortable (despite custom down cushions), looked like a marshmallow throne, and creaked when unfolded into a bed. And the supposedly premium mattress was surprisingly thin feeling.
The 3rd-party delivery guys told us that was totally normal for it to creak, denying that the sound had anything to do with their team dropping it multiple times. They punched a hole in our wall, tried to escape before we noticed, then blamed us for filing a claim. When we called the furniture company, they were initially condescending & kept insisting that it was a "great product" and that no one else had ever complained about creaking, and added it was not returnable. While they eventually gave us a full refund, the whole thing was a fiasco.
It was at this point that we went back to Room & Board and tried out the Macalester in leather. It was so heavenly we didn't want to get up. It was in stock, and available to be delivered in about 10 days. A day ahead of time, they called and said an inspection revealed that the couch did not meet their standards so they would be ordering a new one but in the meantime they would deliver this one for us to use. After our previous experience, we so appreciated how proactive they were.
Both delivery teams, who are in-house Room & Board employees, were incredibly professional and nice.
From start to finish, Room & Board's service was so far above the other company. So grateful!!
