Adams Extension

My husband and I spent weeks trying to find a table that matched our space and were so happy to find this table. It is sturdy and the wood is beautiful and fits our space just as we'd hoped.

This is such a beautiful dining table. The shape, color, style- it was everything we wanted. The walnut wood feels and looks so luxurious!

The table is beautiful. I'd been looking for a few years for a table to meet our exacting specifications (cherry, narrow, expandable). We had focused on the custom shops in Vermont, and even there, we were unable to get exactly what we wanted. This table is half the price of the high-end custom woodworkers, but it does use wood with blemishes that the premium makers would reject. However, the wood imperfections add lovely character and are in keeping with our desire for less waste in the things we buy. The wood runs horizontally, not lengthwise, which might be a problem for some looking for a very high-end product. Bottom line... the quality, price, and customization options make this table a true winner (we even opted for the slightly higher table, which is fantastic for taller folks).

I have bought a ton of stuff from room and board. For the most part I have liked almost everything. I like the design of this table, but there are few problems. The biggest one is there is a large gap probably about a quarter of an inch on the apron where the two halves come together, where you would put the leaves. when I got the table delivered, I noticed this, and sent a picture in showing them. I received an email saying this is not normal. There should be a gap, but not that big, and they sent me a new table. When I got the new table, it was the exact same thing. Whether or not the gap is supposed to be there or as big as it is on mine, it is a really an inexcusable design flaw. The top is flush so there's no reason there should be this huge cap on the apron. Another complaint I have with this table is the space where you store the leaves sits pretty low and it's easy to bang your knees into. The finish on this table is pretty good, but there are areas where the finish feels a bit rougher than other areas. I do like the table as I like almost everything from room and board but that big cat is really a bad design flaw.

This solid wood table is a beauty! Since it's made to order, we were able to make the table, few inches wider than standard to better fit our dining space. The only thing that would make it even better, would be if it had claps to tighten and secure the inserted leaves.

We extremely pleased with our Room & Board table. We are return customers and it never fails to impress the fit and finish of their furniture. We've already had complements from dinner guests.

The walnut Adams extension table I observed in the showroom had an even, refined grain. The 42" x 42" walnut Adams extension table I received was much different. One half of the top had a huge burl and the other half had two large knots. The top was sanded and finished smoothly, but all other surfaces had sporadic sections that remained rough and dull. The legs had square corners, but they had not been even slightly buffed, so they remained very sharp.

I'm very happy with my table and chairs. My home is modern so the table and chairs fit nicely in my dining area. There is a leaf to expand the table as well which I appreciate since I can use it when entertaining. The chairs are very comfortable, and well made. I like to sit at the table for long periods of time which is why the chairs need to be just right. I recommend sitting in chairs in the store before you buy them.
