Coda

Three years ago my husband and I bought two Coda bedside table lamps because we loved the design and functionality. His lamp worked perfectly. My lamp was a "lemon". Within one year, the dimmer quit. A year later, the head dropped off and when I put it back on, the lamp stopped working altogether. R&B sent me a new lamp free of charge. However, when I opened the box, the sturdy metal stem was snapped in two. I called customer service and they arranged hand delivery of a brand new Coda lamp from our local store free of charge. It works perfectly! R&B earned my loyalty today! -- MC in DC

I bought this from Room and Board because I liked the look and it seemed to have an adjustable arm. When it arrived, that arm just flopped over rather than holding in place where you place it. There is a tiny screw hole that is probably for the purpose of tightening the joint — but the people in the store don't know how to do it, there are no instructions, and no help. I tried an allen wrench, but it doesn't work. For the hefty price, they should include directions and whatever little implement is needed. Or how about just manufacturing it with an easy way to adjust the arm? I'm returning it for refund.

It is a great light, though one of the screws was missing.

I wish the lamps had been fully functional. They are very attractive. On/off switch in both lamps was defective. They were very easy to return. Room and Board is always wonderful to work with

bought 2 for bedside tables. 1 lamp works great. Other lamp has been replaced twice. Once because light didn't turn off (bad switch) and second because the base wobbled a lot, probably just a nut needed to be tightened but no access to the nut. Really like the design so I am reordering again. Keeping my fingers crossed that third time is the charm. At least it is very easy to return. Don't toss the box and return address label until you are sure it is working well.

We bought two of these lamps for the bedroom, one for each nightstand. One has had zero problems and works perfectly. The other one has been replaced 3 times now for the same problem. Where the lamp meets the base, it's very wobbly, and not in a subtle I-can-live-with-it way. For some reason, this all steel lamp overwhelms its base and can't stay upright. Do not buy this lamp. This is extremely frustrating because they look awesome in our industrial/contemporary loft.
