Tabletop Materials
We offer two types of tables: wood tables and Top + Base tables, which allow you to choose a base style and combine it with a tabletop material that best suits your lifestyle. Learn about the characteristics and performance of our tabletop materials below to find your ideal solution.
Start Exploring:
Solid Wood
Solid wood has varied colors, grain patterns and other natural markings, making each board uniquely beautiful.
Good to Know:
This natural material responds to its environment—it expands, contracts and changes color as it’s exposed to changing humidity, temperature and light. To best preserve any wood, use coasters to protect it from heat, moisture and abrasion.
Responsibly Made:
Sustainable Materials: All of our solid wood tabletops meet our sustainable wood sourcing policy, which prioritizes wood from responsibly managed North American forests and certified sources.
Butcher Block
Butcher block is made from short strips of solid wood that are laminated together to form a solid surface.
Good to Know:
Butcher block looks beautiful in kitchens and dining rooms but is not intended for food preparation due to the applied finish. To best preserve any wood, use coasters to protect it from heat, moisture and abrasion.
Responsibly Made:
Sustainable Materials: Butcher block meets our sustainable wood sourcing policy, which prioritizes wood from responsibly managed North American forests and certified sources.
Quartz Composite
Made by mixing ground quartz with resin and pigment, our durable quartz composite has consistent color and slight variation in pattern since it’s made partially from natural quartz.
Good to Know:
Resistant to most staining and scratching, quartz can discolor when exposed to extreme heat, so the use of coasters is recommended.
Responsibly Made:
Low Emissions: GREENGUARD Gold® Certified, screened for more than 15,000 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) known to pollute indoor air.
Ceramic Composite
Ceramic composite features a ceramic top that is heat-adhered to clear glass. The result is a thick, durable surface with color variations that are naturally unique to each ceramic piece.
Good to Know:
Ceramic composite is resistant to scratching, staining, chipping, water and heat. Also a great solution for outdoors, this material requires little to zero maintenance—simply wipe with a damp cloth.
Granite
Granite is a natural stone comprised mainly of quartz and feldspar. Each piece is one of a kind.
Good to Know:
This stone can withstand high temperatures, but our granite is unsealed, so we recommend using coasters to avoid stains and scratches.
Marble
Sourced from the mountains of Italy, Venatino marble is famous for its bright white background and distinctive grey veining.
Good to Know:
A timeless material, Venatino marble is porous and unsealed, so it will dull, etch and absorb stains to develop a uniquely beautiful patina with use. Using coasters and acting quickly to clean spills helps minimize this natural characteristic of the stone.
Glass
Providing a lighter visual feel to your space, our tempered glass also offers durability thanks to the heating and cooling process that makes the glass more stress resistant.
Good to Know:
Tempered glass is resistant to stress, but if broken, it fragments into pebble-sized pieces with fewer jagged edges. To maintain glass, simply use gentle cleaners and coasters to avoid scratches.
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)
Medium density fiberboard (MDF) is a strong engineered wood panel that resists expansion and contraction with temperature and humidity changes, making it the perfect foundation for solid wood veneer or paint.
Good to Know:
Our MDF is finished with a dry powder coat that is heated to form a smooth, even surface more durable than conventional paint. To maintain the finish, we recommend using coasters to protect it from heat, moisture and abrasion.
Responsibly Made:
Sustainable Materials: MDF meets our sustainable wood sourcing policy, which prioritizes wood from responsibly managed North American forests and certified sources.
